Paying for a hotel room with crypto isn’t sci-fi anymore as more and more establishments are implementing the latest hospitality tech products. A small, but growing group of luxury properties now accepts digital assets directly, usually through vetted payment partners that convert crypto to local currency at the time of purchase. Below are notable, verifiable examples across regions, plus simple ways to travel on crypto even when a hotel doesn’t take it (yet).

Switzerland’s trailblazers

The Dolder Grand, Zürich
This art-packed hillside icon accepts selected cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, for on-site spends and stays. The hotel’s official FAQs list crypto alongside cards and cash, making it one of Europe’s clearest “yes, we take it” signals in hospitality.

The Chedi Andermatt, Swiss Alps
Since 2021, The Chedi has taken BTC and ETH at the front desk, with payments processed via Worldline and Bitcoin Suisse and converted instantly to Swiss francs to avoid volatility. (There’s a small minimum, historically CHF 200, for crypto transactions.)

Indian Ocean & Thailand

Soneva (Maldives & Thailand)
The ultra-luxury Soneva Fushi, Soneva Jani, Soneva in Aqua (Maldives) and Soneva Kiri (Thailand) accept Bitcoin and Ethereum for stays and even villa ownership, using licensed processors with locked-in exchange rates. It’s one of the most comprehensive crypto rollouts in the resort world.

United Arab Emirates

Palazzo Versace Dubai
Glam meets on-chain: the property partnered with Binance so guests can pay for rooms, dining, spa, meetings and events in BNB, BTC and ETH—handled through Binance’s payment gateway and payment links.

The Manor by JA (Dubai, Al Furjan)
This business-friendly hotel introduced a Binance-powered crypto payment gateway, allowing visitors to settle bills in virtual assets. It’s a practical, city-hotel example rather than a one-off stunt.

Grand Millennium Dubai (Bybit Card perks)
Not strictly “direct crypto at the front desk,” but worth noting: Grand Millennium’s tie-up with Bybit unlocks discounts for Bybit Card holders, making it easier for crypto users to spend via a crypto-to-fiat card.

United States

The Kessler Collection (multiple hotels)
This boutique luxury group—Casa Monica (St. Augustine), Grand Bohemian hotels and more—accepts crypto via BitPay. Supported assets include BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, SHIB and several USD stablecoins. Just tell the front desk you’ll pay with BitPay and they’ll generate the invoice.

How to book with crypto if a hotel doesn’t accept it (yet)

  • Use a crypto-first OTA: Travala lets you book hundreds of thousands of hotels worldwide and pay in BTC and 90+ other cryptocurrencies, handy when the property itself is fiat-only.
  • Leverage payment processors & gift cards: BitPay’s directory highlights travel brands that accept crypto directly, and you can buy gift cards (e.g., Hotels.com) with crypto if you want to keep the trip on-chain.

Quick tips before you tap “Send”

  • Confirm the coins. Supported assets vary (BTC/ETH almost everywhere; some accept BNB, DOGE, LTC or stablecoins). Check the hotel’s page or ask reservations. (Examples above show BTC/ETH at Dolder and Chedi; BNB/BTC/ETH at Palazzo Versace; a broad BitPay list at Kessler.)
  • Ask how payment works. Many hotels send a payment link or accept crypto on-property at checkout. Some require minimum amounts or restrict crypto to certain rates or outlets. (Chedi’s CHF-200 minimum is a good example.)
  • Expect instant conversion. Most partners auto-convert to local currency at the moment of payment, eliminating price swings for the hotel and providing you a locked rate.

Crypto acceptance can change, so it’s smart to call ahead. But as the properties above show, paying for a room with digital assets has moved well beyond novelty, and it’s spreading from alpine palaces to tropical overwater villas and city landmarks.
